Afşin-Elbistan A Thermal Power Plant Emission Data

Values Exceeded Limits by Up to 8 Times

Data shared by the Ministry regarding three units of the Afşin-Elbistan A Thermal Power Plant covers the period between July 1, 2020, and October 17, 2020. According to the data, the average values of Sulfur Dioxide (SO₂) reached up to 8 times, Particulate Matter (PM10) up to 4 times, Carbon Monoxide (CO) up to 3 times, and Nitrogen Oxides (NOx) up to 1.5 times their respective limits.

Hourly measurements revealed even more extreme exceedances. When considering the maximum recorded values, CO levels surged to 19 times the limit, NOx to 2.5 times, SO₂ to 44 times, and PM10 to 14 times the allowed thresholds. These alarming figures highlight the severity of the air pollution crisis in the region.
